Global R&E Program for Interdisciplinary Technologies of Ocean Renewable Energy
채규정 교수 Hello, everyone.

Our university has been selected for the 4th stage of the BK21 project implemented by the Ministry of Education, and we are launching the “Global Innovative Talent Cultivation Group for New and renewable marine energy Convergence Technology” project. This falls within the energy industry/new and renewable energy field of the innovative talent cultivation project. The project will have a 7-year duration, stretching from September 2020 to August 2027.

The education and research group consists of 12 professors from the New and Renewable Marine Energy Convergence Department (mechanical engineering, civil and environmental engineering, ship building and materials engineering majors, department of data informatics) at the Korea Maritime & Ocean University and students under their direction.

Our research group, as part of a comprehensive university specializing in maritime issues, has expertise in maritime science and technologies. The group aims to “cultivate professional talents through convergence education and research across all the stages of [production]->[conversion]->[transport/storage] of the new and renewable marine energy field”, presenting the vision of “creating global value in the new and renewable marine energy field”.

The detailed goals of the education research group for each area are as follows:
• [Education] Cultivation of global talents specializing in the marine field through practical cooperation with world-class
companies and universities in the new and renewable energy field
• [Research] Reinforcement of world-class industry-academic convergence research capabilities to lead the way in the field
of new and renewable marine energy
• [(Regional) Industry-academic cooperation] Establishment of an industry-academic cooperation system in the new and
renewable marine energy field to solve problems affecting new domestic marine industries and regional specialized
marine industries

The research group will strive to pursue education and research consistent with the university’s maritime specialization. This will be done on both domestic and international fronts so that our performance can be recognized both home and abroad. Globally, through interdisciplinary research, we aim to publish papers in international journals and conduct academic exchanges with exemplary foreign researchers. Domestically, we will conduct collaborative industry-academic research and aim to establish related specialized research centers.

We look forward to your cooperation and interest.
